I am a traveler before I am a blogger.

What do I mean by this?

I mean that I travel to travel, to enjoy where I am, to be in the moment. I’m going to put my phone and camera down sometimes, so you’re not always going to see incredible video footage of where I’ve been or the absolute perfect shot. But hopefully, you’ll still get a good story.

I mean that I self-fund the majority of my travels, and that you’re getting my authentic opinions about where I’ve been and where I’m going. Like most travel bloggers these days, I work with brands here and there, but I’m still going to be honest about what I think about their products and destinations.

I mean that I don’t necessarily have a “niche” like people advise bloggers to have, because I want to experience as many different things as possible. It would be silly for me to say that I’m always budget, or that I’m always luxury, or that I’m always adventurous. I love traveling solo but I also really love traveling with my family and friends. I want to go everywhere so I don’t focus on a particular area.

I’m still a blogger, and this is still a blog, but it’s important for you to know that the travel comes first here.

I started writing in 2010 under the site “a hell LOVE a town” with a focus on New York City. As I traveled more, I started writing more about other places outside of NYC, although that is where my heart remains for the moment.

In 2016, I switched over to “10 Miles Behind Me,” a tribute to both James Taylor and to my 18-year-old self who chose “10 miles behind me, and 10,000 more to go” as my yearbook quote. I realized at that time that my life was just beginning, but I still feel a similar way today, especially when it comes to travel. The more I explore, the more I want to explore. You can read more about the blog name update here.

In July of 2016, I quit my corporate banking job in New York City to travel full-time for a little, for what I think will be about a year. I’m not sure yet where this year will take me, but isn’t that part of the fun?

Please join me on my next 10,000 miles.

xx
