Summer 2018 Recap

At one time in my life, I decided that Summer Erin is the best Erin. I suppose this was when I was in college, when Summer Erin had ALL OF THE FUN. Working at a seafood restaurant, playing (drinking) games until bedtime, sleeping over, and going to the beach with her best friends for 90 days in a row. These days, Summer Erin isn’t totally different from Spring and Fall Erin, though she is definitely way better than Winter Erin. Anyway. I had a summer. It was fun, but not summer 2005 fun, which is probably a good thing, because I am an adult now.

2016 Travel Year in Review

Oh, 2016. What a year it’s been. Like many of my friends (including Katie and Erin), I had an incredible year personally, and while we can’t just ignore everything that’s going on in the world and in our country, that’s not what this post is about. With all the memes showing “me at the start of 2016” and “me at the end of 2016,” my favorite, and my goal, is this one (though the video version communicates the message better):

Nevada, Arizona, Utah | “Going West” – My First Travel Video

Back in the day, when I also wanted to be a professional pole vaulter, I wanted to be a film producer and director. But just as I’ve never cleared the bar in pole vaulting, I’ve never released any of my videos other than for high school projects, like when we produced a version of Huckleberry Finn with the actors kayaking in my backyard. This April, I went to a travel video workshop with Kristen of Border Free Travels at the New York Travel Festival and promised myself I would start doing travel videos.

Arizona & Utah | 3 Canyons in 3 Days

Coming back from a trip is always tough for me. Myanmar – where I’d been for four weeks, and my first adventure since quitting my job to travel – was especially difficult, but there is something to say for coming back to America. This time when I came back, I didn’t settle into my old routine, because, well, I don’t have a routine anymore. A week after I returned, I went off to the Southwest with my family to explore more of America – which is already great, for the record.
