Sometimes I have an obsessive personality. In 7th grade, it was Beanie Babies. In 9th grade, it was ‘N Sync. So far this month, it has been the New York Magazine Cheap Eats issue. I’m talking OBSESSED. As in, I may have made my own spreadsheet with categories of Borough, ‘Hood, Cuisine, and what the magazine suggested to order there. If you are nice to me, maybe I will share, if you then promise to go to one (or several) of the establishments with me.
NYC | “Keep Calm and Cronut on”
If you live in the NYC area and don’t know about Cronuts already, you’ve clearly been living under a sad unsweetened rock. The Cronut (TM!) is a doughnut with the flaky layers of a croissant. It was “invented” at Dominique Ansel Bakery on Spring Street. The media is all over it and it’s even being featured on shows like TMZ (I *swear* I’ve only watched three episodes ever).
NYC | Meals on Wheels
Most items on my 28 Things have been one-timers, things that, once finally scheduled with the people who have been dying to do them with me, only take a few hours. This list item was more of a challenge than that. Emily suggested that I eat food trucks for the entire weekend – three meals a day, each day of the weekend, only from food trucks, but because Emily knows me so well, I was allowed to supplement with late night cheese fries if I found it necessary to do so (which I did on Saturday night). Challenge accepted.
NYC | Keeping Up
I’m kind of embarrassed to write this next post. You guys know I have a thing for seeing and taking pictures of celebrities. I equate it to wanting your own picture of Machu Picchu or one of you with the Great Pyramids. But I can’t really compare Kim Kardashian and DJ Pauly D to wonders of the world.
